An online family genealogy (The New England Ball Project) is reported to record Clifford Raeburn Paulson (born 8 Aug 1922, Flint, MI) and Donald Howard Paulson (born 14 May 1924, Flint, MI) as sons of Raeburn Iver Paulson and Esther Eunice Bills. likely
minor death.place: report “Takoma Park, Maryland” vs. found “Maryland, USA (state only)”. Find a Grave lists only the state of Maryland, not the specific city (verified directly). No conflict; the memorial is simply less precise than the report.
minor children: report “Lynn Paulson (1921); Clifford Raeburn Paulson (1922); Donald Howard Paulson (1924-1983); (died) Paulson” vs. found “Infant Son (1921-1921); Clifford Raeburn Paulson (1922-2014); Donald (b. abt 1925)”. Find a Grave records a 1921 infant son who died the same year. It is unclear whether this is the report's 'Lynn Paulson (1921)' or the separate '(died) Paulson' child. Donald's death year (report: 1983) is not shown on the father's memorial.
Open questions (5)
- No independent public source was found for the parents Iver Paulsen (1853-1931) and Maude Irene Wright (1869-1935); the Find a Grave memorial does not list parents. A Find a Grave / FamilySearch record for Iver Paulsen or Maude Wright could confirm the parentage.
- The marriage date/place (31 Dec 1919, Flint, Michigan) rests only on the family report; a Genesee County or Michigan marriage record was not located and would confirm it.
- Whether the report's 'Lynn Paulson (1921)' is the same individual as Find a Grave's 'Baby Boy Paulson (1921-1921)', or a distinct child, remains unresolved.
- No obituary or newspaper record was located to corroborate his occupations (Buick tool and die foreman, gas station, Hubbard Hardware Company), Free Mason membership, the 1938 back injury, or the moves to Tempe, Arizona (1961) and Silver Spring, Maryland (1970). These rest solely on the family report.
- Ancestry-linked census records (1930, 1940, 1950), a Wisconsin Births and Christenings Index entry, and a Wisconsin State Census entry are referenced on the Find a Grave page but were behind a paywall and not examined; these could further document residences and his Wisconsin birth.
