Records & Research

The prior dossier's "nothing-found" conclusion is OVERTURNED. A FamilySearch genealogies search restricted to parents John French / Sarah Clark returned multiple independent submissions (IGI, MyTrees.com partner trees, and several Pedigree Resource File GEDCOMs) for an Eliza Ann French born 1 June 1836 to John French and Sarah (W.) Clark — matching the known birth date and BOTH parents exactly. These trees converge on additional anchors: a husband named Wilson Jenkins (6+ independent submissions) and a death on 13 February 1918 at Sheridan, Sheridan County, Wyoming with burial there (4+ submissions). Birthplace is inconsistent across submissions: most give Amity Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, while one cluster (Clark.ged family) gives Ohio and one gives Iowa, so birthplace remains unresolved. The birth date plus the parental couple constitute a clean two-anchor identity match and are confirmed; the spouse and death/burial are well-corroborated but rest on derivative user-submitted trees rather than original vital records, so they are recorded as likely pending an original source. The previously rejected Princeton, MA infant memorial (1837-1839) is correctly excluded.

  • Eliza Ann French was born 1 June 1836 to John French and Sarah (W.) Clark, matching the known birth date and both named parents. This pairing appears across multiple independent FamilySearch genealogy submissions (International Genealogical Index; MyTrees.com partner trees; and Pedigree Resource File GEDCOMs including Goodell-Young, Young-Johnstone, Michael Nolde Main Family Tree 2024, and the Clark family GEDCOMs).

Differs from the report

status: report says “nothing-found (no record located on two or more independent anchors)”, records indicate “researched — FamilySearch genealogies returns Eliza Ann French b. 1 June 1836 to John French & Sarah Clark across multiple independent submissions, a two-anchor identity match the prior dossier missed.”. The prior search apparently did not query the FamilySearch genealogies (IGI / Pedigree Resource File) index constrained by both parents. That query surfaces an exact birth-date-plus-both-parents match. website ↗

Open questions (5)
  • Birthplace is unresolved: independent FamilySearch submissions disagree (Amity Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania vs Ohio vs Iowa). An original 1850/1860 census household for John French & Sarah Clark, or a Sheridan, Wyoming death/cemetery record, would settle it.
  • All new anchors (spouse Wilson Jenkins; death 13 Feb 1918 at Sheridan, Wyoming; marriage 1859 Jones Co., Iowa) rest on derivative user-submitted trees. Confirm against an original record: a FindAGrave memorial in Sheridan County, Wyoming for Eliza Ann (French) Jenkins, an Iowa marriage record, or a Wyoming death certificate.
  • Verify the husband's name and the couple's children: trees consistently give Wilson Jenkins, but no children were captured in this search; a census household (e.g., 1870/1880 Iowa or 1900/1910 Wyoming Jenkins household) would corroborate the marriage and identify children.
  • Note an alternate father name 'John Scott French' appears in one submission (DNA file for western NY Sage relatives); reconcile against the known 'John French (1795-1874)'.
  • The FindAGrave memorial for an infant Eliza Ann French (29 Jan 1837 - 18 Feb 1839, Meetinghouse Cemetery, Princeton, Worcester Co., Massachusetts) remains correctly REJECTED: it is a different person who died in infancy with a non-matching birth date.
