Records & Research

This is an unnamed child (surname Bills) born 1815-02-20 to Chester Bills (1791-1845) and Mary Day (1790), per a 2006 family report. No public genealogical record (FamilySearch, WikiTree, FindAGrave, Geni, Ancestry, BillionGraves) could be found that verifiably matches a child of this specific couple born in 1815. Same-year/same-surname candidates were each rejected on multiple independent anchors: "Mary Bills" (b. 1815, FamilySearch) belongs to Thomas Bills + Debra Ann Johnson; "Chester Bill (1788-1867)" of Norwich, Connecticut married Mira Lathrop (not Mary Day), has non-matching dates, and his 1815-born child is Orrin Hart Bill — so although that family also has an 1815 birth, it is a different couple. Nothing reliable was found to add to or confirm the report.

No additional public records have been confirmed yet — only what the family report records.

Open questions (7)
  • The child's given name and sex are unknown. The report lists no given name; no record was found to supply one.
  • REJECTED CANDIDATE: 'Mary Bills (1815-)' on FamilySearch (ancestors.familysearch.org/en/9H6M-749/mary-bills-1815) is a same-name/same-year match BUT has different parents - father Thomas Bills (1777-1862) and mother Debra Ann Johnson (1778-1861), not Chester Bills + Mary Day. Rejected as a different person; no anchors beyond birth year match.
  • REJECTED CANDIDATE (verified): 'Chester Bill (1788-1867)' on FamilySearch (K4VH-VRQ) was confirmed on fetch to be a different man - born/lived in Norwich, New London, Connecticut, son of Abiel Bill, married Mira Lathrop (not Mary Day), buried Old Norwichtown Cemetery, dates 1788-1867 (not 1791-1845). He does have a child born 1815 (Orrin Hart Bill, 1815-1840), but the wrong spouse and non-matching dates rule him out as the father on 2+ independent anchors. The 1815-birth coincidence is a genuine trap that does NOT connect to this child.
  • No FamilySearch, WikiTree, or FindAGrave profile was located for the father Chester Bills (1791-1845) or the mother Mary Day (1790) that lists their children; this is the key missing link needed to identify this child.
  • The surname may drift between 'Bills' and 'Bill' (FamilySearch has both Bills and Bill family clusters); a profile for this child may exist under either spelling but none matching both parents was found.
  • Death, burial, marriage, spouse(s), and children for this person are all unknown and unverified - the report itself records only a birth date and the parents.
  • Birth place is unknown; the family's geographic location (state/county) was not established, which limited the ability to search vital records or cemeteries.
